The autumn leaves are currently in full bloom around Mt. Hakkoda.

Mt. Hakkoda is the general term for the Hakkoda mountain range, which refers to 10 mountains with the 1,585-meter-high Mt. Odake as the main peak, and 6 peaks including Kushigamine. It is known not only for its rich nature such as valleys and wetlands, but also for its hot springs, especially Sukayu Onsen.

The autumn leaves begin to change color from mid-October from the top of the mountain to the foot of the mountain. One of the popular spots is the Hakkoda Ropeway, which takes about 10 minutes to climb to an altitude of about 1,300 meters, so you can see how the autumn leaves are changing. The ropeway runs every 15 minutes, but on the clear autumn day of the 18th, even though it was a weekday, there was a two-hour queue.

According to an announcement from the Hakkoda Ropeway, the autumn leaves are currently falling at the top of the mountain, beginning to fall halfway up the mountain, and 50% at the foot of the mountain.

Chuhei Ishidate, a mountain guide with the Hakkoda Mountain Guide Club, said, ``This year, due to the heat, the leaves changed color slowly, but because it suddenly became cold, the leaves changed color quickly over a wide area. The best time to see the autumn leaves is shorter than usual. However, I think the second half of the season will be spectacular."
