"Otome Onsen," an event where people can enjoy bathing without worrying about scars or hair loss after surgery for breast cancer and other conditions, will be held on May 19th at Asamushi Onsen "Tatsumikan" (Asamushi Yamashita, TEL 017-752-2222 ).

The event is organized by "Reborn.R," a company that runs a community site for breast cancer survivors, and "Aomori Welfare Bank" (Hamada, Aomori City, TEL 090-1996-1163 ). It was started in response to voices from breast cancer survivors saying, "It has become difficult for me to go to public baths such as sento and hot springs," and this year marks the 40th time the event has been held. Participation is limited to women.

"We aim to hold the event in all 47 prefectures, and when we were talking among friends about wanting to hold it in Tohoku, we heard about it from co-organizer Shiraishi. There are people who find it difficult to go to hot spring facilities for various reasons. We hope that we can use this opportunity to spend a relaxing time together." "Aomori Welfare Bank" representative Shiraishi smiles and says, "We sympathized with Watanabe's thoughts and wanted to help. We want participants to make new connections in Asamushi, where they can feel the richness of nature and the warmth of people."

The venue is Asamushi Onsen "Tatsumikan". On the day, the men's and women's baths will be open. Women who do not have breast cancer can also participate, and the baths will be separate for each. After the bath, there will be face-slimming stretches, lunch, and social time. After the event, there will be a walking tour of Asamushi town for those who wish to participate.

Watanabe said, "I myself have survived breast cancer. I would be happy to help my friends in Aomori take the next step. I would like to hold this event in other hot spring resorts in the prefecture in the future."

The event will be held from 11:30 to 15:00. The participation fee is 2,300 yen. The capacity is the first 25 people. Applications will be accepted via the "Otome Onsen" application form and Instagram DM. The application deadline is May 16th.
