The apple tree in front of Hirosaki Station is now bearing fruit.

Among the apple trees around Hirosaki Station where apple trees are planted as roadside trees, 2 "Fuji" and 1 "Orin" trees at the "Ekimae Ringo Hiroba" (in front of Hirosaki City Station) are beginning to bear fruit. 3 "Hopa" and 2 "Alps Otome" at the Joto exit of the station.

Apples are a member of the Rosaceae family and bloom in early May. The fruits are harvested from the end of August to the end of November. "Fuji" and "Orin" harvested at the "Ekimae Apple Square" are fed to the animals raised at the "Yayoi Ikoi Square" (Mt. Hyakuzawa Higashiiwaki). It is said that it is not suitable for human consumption because it is not an apple grown on a farm.

Apples require work throughout the year, such as pruning in winter and picking in spring. The staff themselves are in charge of the work on the apple trees in the same square managed by the Hirosaki Green Association. There are also locals who help with the work. The association also receives inquiries from citizens asking if they have yet to harvest. "Hopa" and "Alps Maiden" located at the Joto exit of Hirosaki Station are managed by the Hirosaki City Road Maintenance Division, and are said to be for ornamental use to let people know about Hirosaki apples.

A person in charge of apples at the association's city park division said, "I hope people can see how apples grow over the course of a year."
