The Aomori-Hakodate Twin City Promotion Council (2 Yanagawa, Aomori City) is currently holding a photo contest to expand exchanges between the two cities.

This is the fourth time the contest has been held. With the theme of "I love Twin City!" Ms. Asami Toshima, who is in charge of the association, called out, "I want you to send me attractive photos, such as the perspective of a local or a non-resident."

The two cities have had a thriving exchange of people and goods since ancient times. Taking advantage of the opening of the Seikan Tunnel, in 1989 (Heisei 1), we signed a "twin city" partnership agreement with the aim of forming and developing an economic and cultural zone. The council organizes and promotes exchange projects, and the contest is part of that.

There are 3 recruitment categories. Photos taken in Aomori City for Aomori citizens, photos taken in Hakodate City for Hakodate citizens, and photos taken in Aomori City and Hakodate City for applicants other than the two citizens. 1 Grand Prix and 1 Excellence Award, 5 winners. As a supplementary prize, an assortment of special products from both cities will be presented.

Up to 3 entries per person. If you live in Japan, you can apply, and submit the necessary information and photo data from the dedicated form. The award-winning works will be announced in late November, and an award ceremony will be held in December. Works that pass the first screening will be displayed in the lobby on the first floor of Aomori City Hall.

Applications are open until August 31st.
