The classic car and motorcycle drag race event "Feels Good Exhaust" was held on June 4th at Aomori Speed Park (Komagome Fukasawa, Aomori City).

The forecast for thunderstorms was overturned on that day when the weather cleared. 19 cars in the 4-wheel class and 30 cars in the 2-wheel class (hand-clutch/foot-clutch) gathered at the venue overlooking Mt. Hakkoda and raced on a straight course of 1/10 mile (160 meters) and competed for time.

The race will run three times each for both four-wheel and two-wheel (hand clutch/foot clutch) classes to determine the ranking. Two cars line up on the start line, and the “flag boy” waves down the checkered flag in line with the announcement of “3, 2, 1, go” and the race begins. The race unfolded in a manner unique to classic cars and vintage bikes, with slow starting speeds and large gaps immediately. The crowd of "American car" fans and motorcycle fans cheered and enjoyed watching the race by pointing their cameras and smartphones at the scene where the participating cars entered the course from the waiting area and during the race.

The winner of the 4-wheel class was Mike Poole, who recorded a time of 8.84 seconds out of an average time of 12 seconds. In the motorcycle hand clutch class, Mr. Daichi Hirano won the double crown for the second year in a row, and in the motorcycle foot clutch class Mr. Yuji Ariga. The three were presented with original trophies made in the shape of engine pistons. Mr. Ariga, who participated from Fukushima, said with a smile, "It was my first time to run on a circuit and I was completely absorbed in it. It was worth the six hours."

Tomoki Yukida (18), the youngest contestant from Aomori City for the first time, marked his favorite 1955 Ford F100 (commonly known as Pumpkin) as a beginner. "I came to like American cars because of my father and my father's acquaintances. Normally, I can't step on the accelerator like this, so it feels good. I want to participate again next year," he said with a smile.

The venue was lined with food trucks, grocery stores, and booths for children, and many visitors with families were seen. There was a surprise program "10-ton dump tug-of-war" that only children could participate in at noon, and 50 children who gathered cooperated and pulled the dump.

According to the executive committee, the number of visitors is about 1,000. The commemorative stickers for the first 500 visitors were distributed in the morning. Kota Kimaki, the executive committee chairman, said, "I'm more than happy that the visitors were happy. I'm grateful that there were many connections and that the event was possible. I want to continue next year." I smiled.
