    From April 21st to 24th, the Hirosaki Municipal Momokokucho Exhibition Hall (Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture) will hold an exhibition titled "Hirosaki's Treasure: Great Composer Shunsuke Kikuchi". Sponsored by "Meeting to hand down Hirosaki legends".

    Shunsuke Kikuchi is a composer from Hirosaki who has worked on theme songs and accompaniment music (play accompaniment) for various works such as "Doraemon", "Dragon Ball", and "Aberabo Shogun". He died in April 2021 at the age of 89, and his grave is at Seiganji Temple (Shinmachi).

    Ken Sasaki, representative of the ``Hirosaki Legend Storytelling Society,'' a citizens' group formed with the aim of handing down the history of Hirosaki and the achievements of its natives to future generations, said, ``Everyone has heard Kikuchi-san's songs and melodies. It's just what it should be, but few people, even locals in Hirosaki, know that it's made by someone from Hirosaki.Tell the people of Hirosaki about the achievements of a great composer who can be proud of to the world, and eventually spread it to the world. I would like to send it out as well," he said.

    On display are 200 personal items such as the piano that Mr. Sasaki inherited from Mr. Kikuchi's bereaved family, his favorite piano, and his handwritten musical scores. In the venue, we also introduce a documentary video of a lecture given in Aomori in 1999 (Heisei 11). Mr. Sasaki said, "I think this is the only video of Mr. Kikuchi." A talk event by relatives and classmates will be held on the 22nd, and a mini-concert and a live performance by the vocal unit "Rice Ball" will be held on the 23rd.

    In preparation for the event, the "Hirosaki Legend Storytelling Association" opened a Twitter account and released the event poster on March 25th. of impressions received. "I'm surprised by the scale of Mr. Kikuchi's achievements, including the reaction from overseas," said Mr. Sasaki.

    This exhibition was planned to coincide with the 3rd anniversary of Mr. Kikuchi's death on April 24th. Mr. Sasaki said, "I'm very happy to hear that some people want us to do it outside of the prefecture. I'd like to continue spreading the word about Mr. Kikuchi's achievements, so I hope we can work together to bring excitement to the event."
