"Miyata Ginkgo" (Miyata, Aomori City) on the south side of Shin-Aomori Comprehensive Athletic Park (Miyata) is now at its peak of autumn foliage.

"Miyata Ginkgo" is located on Prefectural Route 44, Aomori Kanjo Nouchi Line, and you can see "West Ginkgo" called "First Ginkgo" and "East Ginkgo" called "Second Ginkgo" 130 meters away. ” consists of two strains. According to the signboard, they are all about 800 years old and have been worshiped as "sacred trees" for a long time.

Around the beginning of November, the leaves of the 'first ginkgo' turned from yellowish green to yellow, and now the whole is almost all yellow. "Second ginkgo" has just started to turn red.

According to the Ministry of the Environment's "Database of Giant Trees and Forests of Giant Trees," the "first ginkgo" has a trunk circumference of about 13 meters and a height of about 23 meters, while the "second ginkgo" has a trunk circumference of about 11 meters and a height of about 28 meters. It is said to be the largest of all ginkgo trees. In 1962 (Showa 37), two strains were designated as natural monuments of Aomori City designated cultural properties.

On the 12th of the New Year's Day, vacationers flocked to see the golden ginkgo trees. A woman in her 60s who came from the city with her family said, "I came to see it for the first time after being told by an acquaintance of my husband. Speaking of ginkgo, Fukaura town's large ginkgo is famous, but I didn't know there was such a splendid ginkgo in my hometown. You came at the best time," he exclaimed. A man in his 60s said with a smile, "I was surprised that the tree was 800 years old."

The 'Miyata ginkgo' leaves gradually begin to fall, and the ground is covered with a 'yellow carpet' within a few days.
