Hirosaki's pastry shop "Patisserie Verger" (Momokokucho, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-32-1949 ) changed its name to "Patisserie Vervene" in January.

The store, which opened on March 1, 2004, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Arashi Arizuka, the owner of the store, said, "20 years is like the time when a baby born at that time becomes an adult. We changed the name of the store in order to further realize our goal of 'creating a memorable store,' which has been our goal from the beginning."

According to Mr. Arizuka, "Vervene" is a coined word, and "Venne" is taken from "Verger" and "Venne" from mythical phoenix, and it has the meaning of shining. "It's a difficult time, so as a pastry shop, I hope we can help make people happy," he said.

After graduating from university, Mr. Arizuka went to a vocational school and trained at a pastry shop in Akita. I worked with the goal of having my own store by the age of 30, and became independent at the age of 29. “When I was working outside the prefecture, there were times when I felt like I was going to give up, but when I came back to my hometown, I saw Mt. Iwaki, and tears filled my eyes.” ``Childhood experiences are important and will remain in your memory forever.

The flagship product, “Kamadashi Apple Pie,” has been on sale since the company was founded. “From the beginning, we had the idea of opening a pastry shop that would make the most of Aomori fruits, and 'Verger' was the French word for orchard. We have been selling apple pies for 20 years, but it was a series of hardships in the beginning. There were times when it didn't sell and I gave it away," says Arizuka.

Currently, the signboard of the store has changed to the new store name, and the product label etc. is the old store name, but it is said that the store name will be changed sequentially by March 1st. Mr. Arizuka said, "The change in the store name did not change the products or the store, but rather changed my own thoughts. I would like to create new products in the future, but I would like to continue to take root as one of the cogs in the region. ', he says.
