On September 18th, a workshop entitled "Hermatology - Let's Make Potted Plants" was held at the "Aomori Public University Center for the Arts Aomori (ACAC)" (Gokozawa, Aomori City) at the foot of Mt. Hakkoda.

The workshop was opened by Shuji Yamamoto, a writer based in Towada City. As part of the exhibition "Landscape Observation Study Group Hakkoda University" held from July 16th to September 25th, I learned about the workings of nature through art, taking advantage of the environment surrounded by nature.

17 people from children to adults participated in the workshop. Under Mr. Yamamoto's lecture, paint pots made from wood offcuts with pigments made from soil. I went out into the woods outside and dug up seedlings that had just sprouted from seedlings, along with the soil, and planted them in pots, all by hand.

A woman in her 50s who participated said, "It was my first time making pigments from soil, and the first time I heard the word 'seedling.' If not," he said.

Mr. Yamamoto says, ``Until the seedlings grow and become a forest, the forest will not be what it is today if it lacks sunlight, nutrients in the soil, or the relationship with other plants. If you do, you can also know what kind of forest it will become in the future. It is also artistic to expand your perspective from seedlings. This time, I hope you will feel something important through doing things that you do not usually do.” talk to.

ACAC is currently holding the "Artist-in-Residence Program 2022 Making Things," inviting artists from Japan and overseas through open recruitment.

The opening hours are from 10:00 to 18:00. Admission free.
