Okai Footwear Store (Honmachi, Aomori City, TEL 017-776-3330 ) installed a capsule vending machine for handmade miniature clogs on August 2nd.

The handmade miniature clogs are about 5cm in size. The thong is decorated with Aomori-like koginzashi, and it is all handmade like real clogs. The color of the stand, the color of the thong, the color of the koginzashi, etc., are combined to create a one-of-a-kind item. The base of the geta is made of natural wood, and some are lacquered. 500 yen per pair.

The store was founded in 1931 (Showa 6) as a geta store in Honmachi, Aomori City. In addition to selling new clogs, they also replace the thongs of old clogs lying idle at home, attach rubber soles, and replace them.

Ms. Yuko Hattori, a store clerk who was thinking about how to introduce geta into everyday life for people who were not interested in geta. Knowing that capsule toys that make use of regional characteristics are popular, he decided to sell "miniature clogs made by a geta shop" through a capsule vending machine.

The first batch is already sold out. Mr. Hattori says with a smile, "I'm happy to receive an unexpected response. Currently, I'm preparing for the next sale."
