From November 28th to December 2nd, a student-designed menu using seaweed from Kazamaura Village was sold at the cafeteria on the Bunkyo Campus of Hirosaki University.

Kazamaura Village in Aomori Prefecture is a fishing village located in the north of Shimokita Peninsula and adjacent to Oma. At Hirosaki University, as part of business practice, he is working on selling seafood from Kazamaura Village. With the cooperation of the Prefectural Products Promotion Association, we conducted field surveys, secured procurement routes, negotiated with university co-ops, and managed to sell them at cafeterias.

It was planned by six third-year students of Professor Hwang Xiaochun's seminar at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Hirosaki University. He established a fictitious company as a seminar student and discussed from scratch what to do to sell marine products. Yuya Mukoda, a third-year student in the same department, recalled, "I started out completely ignorant of Kazamaura Village. I didn't even know about distribution, and I had a particularly hard time negotiating prices."

Two types of menus were developed: “Kazamaura Funori Miso Soup” and “Kazamaura Hijiki Rice”. The prices are set at 44 yen and 110 yen respectively. Funori's miso soup sold 1,410 bowls in three days, and was well received by students.

Mukaida says, "According to the survey, most of the students don't know about the village, so I hope this project will lead to even a little recognition of Kazamaura Village."

In the yellow seminar, a questionnaire was also conducted with a two-dimensional barcode for those who ate the limited menu. The company aims to gather the opinions of those who have eaten it and use it to improve the product, aiming to make it a standard menu item for cafeterias.
