The pub "Robin's Nest" (Omachi, Hirosaki City, TEL 090-6450-1730 ) near JR Hirosaki Station celebrated its 10th anniversary on November 17th.

The owner, Mr. Shoichi Narita, started this restaurant with the intention of creating a pub that will last for 100 years. The interior of the store is designed in the image of an Irish pub, and has a stage for live performances.

Mr. Narita wandered around Ireland when he was 26 and was so impressed by the pub culture that he thought of opening his own restaurant as an Irish pub. Together with a friend, he renovated the former site of a Japanese restaurant and opened the restaurant in 2012. There is a rental studio on the second floor.

“Our strength is that we have been open without regular holidays,” says Mr. Narita. Over the past 10 years, he has organized various events such as live performances and open mics. With many foreign customers, Kazunori Fujimori, a staff member, came to the store as a customer, earning a reputation as ``the restaurant that attracts the most foreigners in Hirosaki.'' Looking back, Mr. Fujimori recalls, "I came here because I wanted to talk with foreigners."

Mr. Fujimori started working in 2016 and supports Mr. Narita. I made a new menu such as Irish tea. “I was 26 years old when I went to Ireland, just like Mr. Narita,” said Mr. Fujimori.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, it was forced to close from April to December 2020. Narita said, "We used the nine months as a recharging period to create a curriculum together, study English, build physical strength, and so on." In addition to setting up a new open terrace where you can see the Hirosaki Neputa Festival during the holidays, the interior such as the counter tables has been repainted.

Mr. Narita says, "I found points for improvement based on things I noticed during sales and small things I felt from the behavior of customers, and brushed them up." "10 years is a milestone we've finally arrived at. We're aiming to become a pub rooted in Hirosaki, 90 years until 100," he says with a smile. “I want to go to Ireland next year,” he said.

Business hours are from 17:00 to 3:00 the next day.
