On September 24th and 25th, the "Bug Truck Owners Meeting" was held at Ajigasawa Camping Park (Ajigasawa Town, Nishitsugaru District) to exchange information about "Bug-truck" owners.

A bug truck is a custom vehicle with a tent-like hood and box on the bed of a light truck. It was devised by Mr. Takeshi Yamamoto, the president of "CARFACTORY TARBOW", a car sales company in Tsugaru City. Yamamoto named it "bug" because it resembled the shape of an insect. Sales began in 2017 (Heisei 29), and the current waiting time for delivery is one and a half years.

Mr. Yamamoto says with a smile, "I've always wanted to do a get-together between owners. Above all, I wanted bug trucks to come to Aomori." 30 vehicles gathered from all over the country. In addition to the hood type and hard type that are on sale, a sauna type that "there are only two" (Mr. Yamamoto) also participated.

The bug track was originally developed by Mr. Yamamoto for himself. “When I made it because I wanted to go camping with my dog, I received an inquiry on social media about wanting one. After about a year of repeated improvements, I started selling it,” says Yamamoto. "When I was camping with my dog in the hood type, I developed a hard type as a soundproof and heat-resistant type for the dog who was not calm by the surrounding sounds."

On the day of the event, there was a surprise tuna carving show, a lottery held by local sponsors, and a free sauna experience with a sauna car. Inside the venue, there were participants camping in bug trucks, wandering around freely, and boasting about each other.

After the event, Mr. Yamamoto commented, "I was deeply moved by the feedback I received, such as 'I'm glad I came to Aomori' and 'I want the event to be held again.' I want to go," he said with a smile.
