The ``Kingyo Neputa Train'' is currently in operation on the Owani Line of the Konan Railway.

The Owani Line is a 14-kilometer local line that connects Chuo-Hirosaki Station (Yoshino-cho, Hirosaki City) with Owani Station (Owani-cho). The Goldfish Neputa Train is an event train decorated with 350 Goldfish Neputa floats inside.

Goldfish Neputa is a summer tradition in Tsugaru, and it started with paper lanterns given to children because goldfish were a luxury fish in the Edo period. Nowadays, they are used in many ways other than festivals, and are gaining popularity as interior decorations and souvenirs. It was produced by the Neputa village of the Tsugaru clan (Kikko town). Everything is handmade and the manufacturing method is the same as Neputa. Use brazing or Japanese paper.

The Goldfish Neputa Train was started last year, and this year it will run from August 1st to August 25th as the "Children's Goldfish Neputa Train," decorated with 200 goldfish Neputa floats painted by children along the line. On Saturdays and Sundays, the operation of the goldfish Neputa at night with only the lights of the goldfish Neputa was held, and it attracted a lot of attention on the Internet, saying that it was "fantastic" and "like being in another world."

Mr. Masashi Nakata of Konan Railway said, "Thankfully, the posts of everyone who boarded the train are attracting attention. All the points of interest that are different from the photos taken by our company are beautiful, and I would like to thank you for all the beautiful photos. The goldfish Neputa swaying freely is also beautiful, so I would like you to ride it and experience it.”

Until September 30th. Inquiries about service are accepted at Chuo-Hirosaki Station (TEL 0172-32-6449 ).
