On August 29, Amazon Japan (Meguro-ku, Tokyo) opened its delivery base "Hirosaki Delivery Station (DS)" (Namioka, Aomori-shi).

Hirosaki DS is a delivery base with a total floor area of 1,500 square meters, which opened on June 29, and will be the first direct management facility of Amazon in Aomori Prefecture. With the opening of DS, Amazon Flex delivery drivers will deliver to areas centered on Hirosaki, including Namioka and Goshogawara, and next-day delivery of more than 7 million items will be possible.

Junnosuke Michigami, regional director of Amazon Logistics, said, "It's rare for a DS of the same size to have an indoor loading area. We're envisioning work in the snow during the winter." "Hirosaki" was a project targeting the Hirosaki area from the beginning, so it ended up being the Hirosaki DM."

According to Michigami, together with the Hachinohe DS that opened in July, it has created employment opportunities for hundreds of people in the prefecture. Amazon Flex is a delivery program that allows individual business owners to register their delivery drivers and work in their own time, not in fixed shifts. The service started in Japan in 2019.

Michigami said, "In Japan, we plan to develop more than 45 DSs this year, and two DSs have been opened in Aomori. Amazon's technology and programs are integrated, and safety and security are our top priority. First, we want to provide a service that can deliver quickly and efficiently."
