Aomori Prefectural Hirosaki High School (Shinteramachi, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-32-0251 ) operated "Hirosaki Neputa" on July 20th for the first time in three years.

"Hirosaki Neputa" is a traditional school event in which students make their own Neputa for each class and operate it in the center of Hirosaki. Since only the high school in Hirosaki operates in the city, some children are envious of other schools and take the exam because they want to do Neputa.

It has been in service for the first time in 3 years. It was canceled in 2020 and did not produce Neputa, but in 2021 it was produced and did not operate. This year, 18 Neputa cars in 6 classes and 3rd grade will be on the stage. Students wear yukata and masks, and carry flags to call on the audience to prevent infection. I paraded around Chuo-dori and Dotemachi-dori while yelling "Yayado" to the sound of Hayashi and Taiko.

A man in his 50s with a third-year student at Hirosaki High School said, "Infection with the new coronavirus began in 2020, and I ended up living a high school life where school events and club activities were not going on. However, it was really nice to be able to see the operation, "he smiles.

Neputa made by the students will be transferred to those who wish for free. For applications and inquiries, please contact the Student Guidance Department of the school.
