The Yamato family is a Japanese restaurant founded in 1923 (Taisho 12), and the third-generation owner Toshi Kudo started selling rice balls at a junior high school shop in 1971 (Showa 46). In 2014 (Heisei 26), we developed a rice ball containing "Aomori PG". Currently, it does not have a store and sells onigiri by order, and from November last year, it started selling frozen rice balls at the Tamundo main store.

From 1973 (Showa 48) to 1991 (Heisei 3), in addition to being in charge of the cafeterias of 6 high schools in the city, selling lunch boxes for students who visited Hirosaki on a school trip, providing rice balls to kindergartens and nursery schools in the city, East Japan At the time of the great earthquake, I sometimes went to deliver rice balls in the disaster area.

"Fifty years ago when we started selling rice balls, there were no convenience stores, and rice balls were eaten at home. I wanted to convey the importance of rice food in an era when bread food is increasing. At stations, hospitals, airports, etc. However, the number of convenience store rice balls used increased, and in 2014 we decided to close the store, "says Kudo.

In 2015 (Heisei 27), volunteers established the "Yamato Family Onigiri Knotting Association". Mr. Takuya Shibuya, the secretary general of the association and the representative of Tamundo, said, "In the activity of teaching how to make rice balls and introducing recipes of local cuisine, there were many inquiries about the sales place, and it was frozen that it started 20 years ago. We decided to sell it at our shop. It has a good reputation for being nostalgic, and many fans repeat it. "

"Apple rice" is a cooked rice that uses Jonagold fruits and contains maitake mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and fried tofu. Mr. Kudo reveals, "Chrysanthemums are also included as a Japanese food, and the illustrations are drawn by my grandchildren." Also known as a "long-selling product for over 30 years."

Mr. Shibuya said, "We planned to have a limited-time product for the Hirosaki Cherry Blossom Festival, but we will continue to offer it in the future due to Mr. Kudo's motivation." Mr. Kudo smiles, "I want to keep making rice balls as long as I can. I myself eat one every day."

    The price is 260 yen.
