It has been half a year since the "Aomori" corner was set up at Bookoff 102 Hirosaki Takada store (Hirosaki City, Aomori Prefecture, TEL 0172-29-2520 ).

Since October last year, the store has set up a corner in front of the cash register that handles media such as books and CDs / DVDs related to Aomori. Increased from 1 shelf to 2 shelves in late January this year. Currently, in addition to manga set in Hirosaki and works by artists from Aomori, Aomori's photo books are also on sale.

The project was planned by Chika Saito, the area manager of the Sendai branch office and the store manager. Mr. Saito is from Kyoto and was assigned to Hirosaki in 2018 (Heisei 30). "Compared to other areas, Hirosaki handles more books about the area, and I felt the cultural level unique to Hirosaki, which is said to be a school city in a castle town," says Saito.

"I thought about creating an Aomori corner right after I was posted," says Saito. "In recent years, we have set out to create stores that focus on regional colors. Among them, local corners are rare nationwide. The problem is that inventory management is done by human hands, and in my own knowledge, it is about Aomori. It was difficult to collect books. "

According to Mr. Saito, the local staff Hiromi Yamada helped to set up the Aomori corner. Mr. Yamada says, "I often don't know that the books I felt were handled a lot, but they were actually from Aomori, so I'm studying." Aomori-related products were collected by sending them from purchased items or checking the items on display again. It is said that the two of them collected them one by one.

After installing it, the number of customers who stop and actually purchase it is increasing. "The 100th volume of the manga" Oishinbo "is set in Aomori, so it sells well. It's currently sold out," says Saito. "Kogin-zashi books and photo books with stylish covers sell well," says Yamada.

Mr. Saito said, "We want to increase the number of products we handle. Our products are purchased products. We need your help to increase the number of products. Aomori Corner is a place where you can get to know the local area deeply. I want to grow up to be. "
