The Tsugaru Dam in Nishimeya, Aomori was lit up in red on May 8.

May 8th is "World Red Cross Day", the birthday of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross. The light-up is due to participation in the "Red Cross Red Light-up Project 2021", which aims to be close to people suffering from conflicts and disasters and to deepen their understanding of humanity.

Tsugaru Dam is a gravity-type concrete dam with a height of 97.2 meters. With a width of 342 meters, it is one of the largest in Tohoku and has the largest total water storage capacity in Aomori Prefecture. Light-ups are being carried out in various ways, and this is the third time in two years that we have participated in the project. During Golden Week, we also lit up to project "cherry blossoms" and "carp streamers".

The light-up project is the only one in Aomori prefecture. One hour later than the scheduled 19:00 due to mechanical trouble, the dam was illuminated in red, which is the symbol color of the Red Cross.

According to the Iwakigawa Dam Integrated Management Office, which manages the Tsugaru Dam, on May 12th, "Nursing Day," we would like to thank all the medical professionals who are at the forefront of the new coronavirus for infection prevention care. , It is said to illuminate blue.
