On April 29, "Kanagi Cafe Melo" (Kanagi, Goshogawara City, TEL 080-1666-6328 ) opened near the Dazai Osamu Memorial Hall "Shayokan" in Goshogawara, Aomori.

Miki Abe, a former Tsugaru Peninsula tourism attendant from Kanagi, renovated a 100-year-old rice brewery at her home and opened a store. Mr. Abe, whose hobbies are visiting cafes and kitchen gardens, said he started his own business because there was no cafe in his hometown of Kaneki. The store name "Mero" is named after the Italian word for apple.

Mr. Abe quit his Tsugaru Peninsula tourism attendant in December last year and became independent with the aim of opening a cafe. One of the reasons for starting a business is that it was pointed out that there is no local cafe in the attendant business.

The renovation of the rice brewery was done by myself, with the help of friends and family to the extent possible. “A lot of rice came out from between the walls and the alcove. The pillars were strong, but the building itself was distorted and the renovation was unexpected,” says Abe. I was struggling to build a store until just before it opened.

The store area is about 18 tsubo, and the number of seats is 14 and 4 terrace seats. Only the terrace seats can be entered with dogs. A counter table using driftwood, which was also Mr. Abe's personal belongings, was set up in the store, and Mr. Abe expressed his motivation to "use it as a space for displaying and selling local miscellaneous goods and accessories." "I want to use the chairs and tableware of local artists as much as possible without unifying them."

The menu includes hand drip coffee (370 yen) using coffee beans from "Noguchi Coffee Shop" (Sotogahama Town), which I have known for a long time, Earl Gray tea, milk tea (400 yen or more), and cream soda (380 yen). Yen), soft drinks (250 yen), etc.

In addition to meal menus such as daily lunch (with drinks, 880 yen) and egg sandwiches (400 yen) using local ingredients and ingredients made in your own field, daily sweets (300 yen and up) and French toast (500 yen) are included in the sweets menu. We offer yen), pudding (300 yen), and chiffon cake (450 yen).

Mr. Abe smiles, "Actually, I'm not good at coffee, and I was visiting cafes where I enjoyed the space. I hope you can enjoy the space and stop by for a short break at our shop."

Business hours from 10:00 to 17:00. Closed on Mondays.
