The American general store "Crazy Garden" opened in Toriage, Hirosaki City on January 3rd.

The store has more than 500 items such as miscellaneous goods and used clothing purchased from the United States. Produced by Takeshi Yoshikawa of "Crazy Mesh" (Shinteramachi, Hirosaki City), which handles T-shirt print services. Atsushi Kami, who is the store manager, is said to have met in a Neputa group.

Mr. Yoshikawa opened "Crazy Mesh" at Sakaizeki in 2013 (Heisei 25) and moved to his current location in 2018 (Heisei 30). "The original plan was to open a general store in the previous store, but as the number of products increased, we searched for a large property," says Yoshikawa.

Initially, it was planned to sell only miscellaneous goods, but because the quality of overseas used clothing purchased for his own children was good, he decided to sell used clothing as well. God was also interested in fashion such as used clothing, and went to buy it outside the prefecture. Mr. Yoshikawa recalls, "I asked him to try to handle it by himself instead of going outside the prefecture, and he hit it off and decided to handle used clothing as well."

The store area is 22 tsubo. The property that was used as an office was renovated into a general store style that handles American daily necessities. It took a month for the construction, led by the former carpenter God. The waste material is used as a wall to separate the used clothing and miscellaneous goods space, and the floor is filled with the magazine of the American comics.

"One week after the opening, rumors spread on SNS mainly among high school students, and the number of followers is already larger than that of CRAZY MESH," says Yoshikawa with a bitter smile. Some residents in the neighborhood said that they were happy to have a bright store in a dark residential area.

"When the snow melts, I want to put a game cabinet in front of the store so that children can easily drop in," says God. Mr. Yoshikawa enthuses, "When I was a student, there were many clothes stores I longed for. Nowadays, I can easily buy clothes online, but I want to make it a local store that students long for."

Business hours are Monday to Friday = 13:00 to 21:00, Saturday and Sunday = 10:00 to 21:00.
