Cosmos and dahlia are now in full bloom at the open garden cafe "Garden Under the Big Kuri no Ki " ( Machii , Hirakawa, TEL 0172-88-5529 ) in Hirakawa, Aomori.

The garden of about 2000 tsubo is divided into four gardens with the theme of Kacho Fugetsu. There are 20 spots in the park where you can sit on the terrace or on the bench and have a drink, and you can see the flowers according to the season. The best time to see is the "Wind Garden" where cosmos and dahlia bloom. It has already begun to bloom.

According to the owner, Hiroaki Osawa, 20 years ago, the couple started gardening as a hobby. In 2013 (Heisei 25), an admission fee was collected in the form of a donation to cover the maintenance cost of the oversized open garden, and the garden was opened to the public. Mr. Osawa says, "I wanted many people, not just ourselves, to spend a relaxing space and time watching the flowers."

Word-of-mouth communication has spread its reputation, and recently more and more young people are visiting by looking at information on SNS and blogs. Last year, it was commercialized when Mr. Osawa retired. "When I see people from outside the prefecture and local customers who say that they have never heard of such a place, it may have contributed a little to the local economy," he smiles.

The entrance fee is 500 yen for junior high school students and above (with drinks), and orange juice is provided free of charge for elementary school students and younger. Drinks include coffee (ice hot), peach rosehip tea (ice hot), and homemade apple juice. Homemade apple juice will be handmade using apples harvested at the apple plantation adjacent to the park.

Currently operating while taking measures against the new coronavirus. Wearing masks and drinks are not carried to the seats, but are taken out. Set up a toll box for payment. Mr. Osawa says, "Because of the corona virus, I want you to smile and feel better by seeing the flowers and greenery."

The park is open from 10:00 to 16:00. The Cosmos Dahlia Season is scheduled to open from September 10th to 27th, October 1st to 4th, October 8th to 11th, and October 15th to 18th.
