On September 3rd, a professional sparrow, Tomoko Toyama, who lives in Hirosaki, developed Tsugaru-nuri Mahjong tiles and started pre-ordering.

Mr. Toyama is currently in the C3 League of the Japan Professional Mahjong Association (Mahjong). Mr. Toyama, who lives in Hirosaki, moved to Tokyo after graduating from high school, and was certified as a professional by the association in 2014. After U-turn in Hirosaki in 2017, he has been a presidency of a mahjong circle for girls and a lecturer of a culture classroom based in a local area.

The Mahjong tile is a collaboration project with local lacquer craftsman Jiro Tateyama. Mr. Tateyama is a craftsman who paints Tsugaru on various things such as snowboards and air conditioners, and Mr. Toyama said that he received two replies when he asked.

The completed Mahjong tiles have a Tsugaru lacquer on the back, and different types of lacquer are applied to the 3 types of tiles and the tiles. Mr. Toyama, who got it for the first time, was impressed by the quality beyond his imagination.

Mr. Toyama says, "It is not the tiles that are actually used, but the ones I made for key chains and ornaments. Now I can choose the tiles, but on a first-come, first-served basis. A strap is attached to the purchaser, but if desired, it can be sold without modification.

Mr. Toyama is preparing and recommending the establishment of a culture school that he currently runs. Enthusiasm "I want to establish Mahjong culture in the local Hirosaki." “If you like mahjong and want to get interested in Tsugaru-nuri and if you are interested in Tsugaru-nuri, you can get interested in mahjong,” he says with a smile.

The price is 2,000 yen per piece. Toyama's Twitter is accepting sales reservations.
