Four new Tsugaru dialect traffic safety signboards were installed on August 23 at Hirosaki City Joto Elementary School (Okubo Nishida, Hirosaki City).

The traffic safety slogan written in the Tsugaru dialect is an initiative that the Aomori Traffic Safety Association Watoku Branch started about 10 years ago. The slogan was requested as homework for the sixth grader of the school, and this year 51 people submitted it as part of special activities to consider the area and traffic safety. His representative work, "Unu-Unu-do Ken-dawada Higarero," was introduced in the media as "difficult for foreigners," and became a hot topic.

The new work was released at the athletic meet held every May, but this year it was postponed because the schedule of school events was changed due to the new coronavirus. According to Toshiaki Harada of the branch office, the athletic meet was decided to be held on September 18, and the school was asked to recruit slogans in late June.

The four slogans newly added this time are as follows. "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, don't be afraid." "Abne, don't look at your smartphone. Look at it. (Because it's dangerous, don't look at your smartphone and look straight ahead." )” “Waldagana? I have to see Meushirowakipara (I wonder if I should cross? I have to look behind and to the left and right)” “Irumonana Kadokokowawarahando (When you turn a corner There may be children)"

On the same day, signboards were placed next to the school gate by members of the branch. The four cards from last year that were installed so far are said to be replaced with the old ones from the 52 signs in the Wade School District. Mr. Harada smiles, saying, "Unu-nudo is a famous piece. I still keep it as a member of the Hall of Fame."

Mr. Harada said, "This year, I like the works such as "driving" and "smartphone", which I like. I've heard that people outside the prefecture could inadvertently look at it, but on the contrary, it could be an accident. There are no accidents, and the contents are understandable to the local people simply by looking at them. The reputation in the area is good, and I would like to continue.”
