The Tsugaru Strait Winter View Song Monument in front of the Seikan Ferry Memorial Ship Hakkodamaru (Yanagawa, Aomori City) was restored on March 16th.

The monument automatically detects when a person approaches and plays Enka singer Sayuri Ishikawa's hit song "Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyu Sekyou." It had been out of order since September last year due to a sensor malfunction.

According to the person in charge of the Aomori Port Management Office, they have changed from a sensor-type system to a push-button system because the sensors had often been unresponsive. A push-button song monument is also installed at the Cape Tatsubi parking lot.

The person in charge said, ``Repairs were done while we were monitoring the snow situation, so it was only now that we were able to restore the area.''
