On March 8th, the ``Sakurafu Calligraphy Class Exhibition'', a calligraphy exhibition known for its ``too free'' theme, began at the underground passageway York Gallery of Ito-Yokado Hirosaki store (in front of Hirosaki City Station).

This exhibition is held every March by Sakurafu Calligraphy Class (Fujisaki Town), which is headed by Sakurafu Miura of the Sakurafu Branch of the Japan Educational Calligraphy Association. This year, approximately 330 works by 28 students ranging from first grade to third year university students will be exhibited along the ``Walking Walkway''.

The themes have so far featured unique viewpoints, such as ``Fist of the North Star's Special Move,'' ``Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba,'' and ``Brands of Japanese Sake,'' and have become a hot topic on the Internet every year, with people saying they are ``too free.''

This year's themes include ``Favorite YouTube Channel,'' ``Mother's Mouth,'' ``Types of Rain,'' ``Favorite Pasta,'' ``Masterpieces You Should Read,'' ``Tooth Disease,'' and ``People Who Turned into Bills.'' According to Miura, it is difficult to not only have the children enjoy writing, but also to decide on a theme that will have the children write hiragana, katakana, and kanji.

The theme of ``dental disease'' was decided upon by Miura in consultation with the dentist she attends. We wanted the children to take good care of their teeth, so we asked the children to choose the name of their disease and write it down. ``This may be the most serious dental disease in the world,'' said Miura.

"We would like you to come and see the children's hard-earned work. We would be most happy to see it in person, but we would also like you to take a photo and use it on your smartphone's wallpaper or talk about it on social media." he said with a smile.

    free entrance. Until April 9th.
