"Aomori Coffee Festival 2023" will be held on October 21st and 22nd at Wa Rasse West Plaza "Aomori Ekimae Beach".

This year marks the 8th time for the event, which began in 2016 with the aim of becoming the number one coffee consumer in Japan. Last year, 15,000 people visited.

Koichi Nakamura, chairman of the executive committee, said, ``This year, a record 90 stores will open from inside and outside of Aomori prefecture. There are about twice as many stores opening than last year, and this will be the first time the event will be held without restrictions after the coronavirus. We will try a lot of new things."

Since there are long lines at popular restaurants every year, FastPass will be introduced this year. The selling price is 10,000 yen. Valid for one day only, you can order coffee first at all stores. "The idea was for crew members who volunteered to help, but we decided to sell it," Nakamura said.

Since some people line up just to buy coffee beans, a select coffee bean shop will also open. The ``Reusable Cup'' service, which started last year, is sold on a deposit-based basis where customers deposit 1,000 yen and get the money back when they return the cup. Since a large amount of coffee grounds will be produced, this year they will set up a ``vermicompost'' and provide it as fertilizer to organic farmers in Aomori.

A talk show entitled "ACF RADIO" will be broadcast at the venue. Senzo Narita, owner of Hirosaki Coffee School, Koshi Kimura of home-roasted coffee shop COFFEE COLORS, Ken Imai of Café des Gitane, and others will appear, as well as DJ time. We will also announce the winners of the lottery.

In addition, on the 21st, there will be a "Coffee & Talk Show" with Yoshikuni Tachikawa of "Raw Sugar Roast" (Tokyo), winner of "Japan AeroPress Championship 2022" and "NOZY COFFEE" (Tokyo), runner-up of "Japan Brewers Cup 2023". Sakura Yamamoto will be the guest (participation fee = 1,000 yen, coffee included = 4,000 yen). On the 22nd, a latte art workshop (participation fee = 1,000 yen) will be held by three baristas who have participated in the latte art world competition. Both require advance reservations.

The event is held from 10:00 to 16:00. free entrance.
