The event "Kudoji Temple Day" will be held on September 9th and 10th at Kudoji Temple (Sakamoto, Hirosaki City).

The event started last year. The main hall of Kudoji Temple will be used as the venue for collaborative projects from different industries and exhibitions of hidden Buddha statues. Last year, we held a special exhibition of scrolls and woodblock prints from the temple's collection, along with the sale of red stamp books by the dot artist PAPICO.

According to Mitsuaki Sudo, chief priest of Kudo-ji Temple, this year's highlights include the sale of cocktails in collaboration with the bar "Garcom de Bar" (Okeyamachi), and a special opening of the main hall. The collaboration cocktail ``kudoji'' is inspired by the approach to Kudoji Temple, and adds yuzu and other ingredients to green tea and apple syrup. It will be served non-alcoholic at the event venue, and at Garson Gibar, it will be served alcoholic with the addition of Hirosaki's local sake Hohai.

On both days, there will be an Ajikan experience (from 8:30 a.m., advance reservations required) and a "Kito" prayer (11 a.m. and 2 p.m.). In the main hall (9:00-16:00), in 2021, in addition to showing a video of the principal image that was unveiled for the first time in 33 years, the "Inner Buddha", which is not usually open to the public, will be opened to the public (main hall admission is by "Zushi" which will be distributed on the day). Mr. Sudo said, ``We started this event because 9 and 10 are numbers that have a connection to our temple.In Buddhism, there is a teaching called ``self-interest and altruism'' (jirita), and we wanted to increase the chances of people stopping by our temple. , the idea is that surrounding restaurants will benefit more. Even if you can't come on the day, the collaboration cocktail will continue to be offered as a regular menu at the store, so please take advantage of it."
