The Shimofuro hot spring resort ``Maruhon Ryokan'' (Kazamaura Village, Aomori Prefecture) is currently recruiting candidates for its housewife.

Shimofuro Onsenkyo is a hot spring resort located in the northern part of the Shimokita Peninsula that has been around since the Muromachi period. ``Maruhon Ryokan'' has a history dating back to 1887 and is the oldest long-established inn in Shimofuro Onsenkyo. There are 10 accommodation rooms.

In 1998, Masae Hase, the housewife of Maruhon Ryokan, made a U-turn to Kazamaura Village and ran the inn with Tsueko, the previous housewife. Tsueko passed away in 2021, and while running the inn alone, he began to think about inn management and the continuation of Shimofuro Onsenkyo. Mr. Hase says, ``If there is no successor, the historic inn and hot spring village will disappear.'' I hope we can find a wonderful candidate for the wife.''

Shimofuro Onsenkyo had more than 20 inns and guesthouses during the Showa era, but due to changes in travel needs, the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the effects of the new coronavirus infection, the number has now decreased to nine. According to Mr. Hase, the deterioration of facilities and the lack of successors are currently serious issues for Shimofuro Onsen.

Yuki Kimura of Kazamaura Village's Industrial Construction Division says, ``If we find candidates through internships, we would like to utilize systems such as the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Team to help revitalize the hot spring village.''

The recruitment capacity is 2 people, and the period is scheduled for 4 days and 3 nights from October to November. Experience work such as cleaning the bath and serving food. Participation fee is 10,000 yen (including accommodation fee). Transportation expenses to be paid by oneself.

For inquiries, please contact Mr. Yuki Kimura (TEL 0175-35-2111 ) of "Kazamaura Village Industrial Construction Division".
