The Tsugaru Strait Winter View Song Monument in front of the ``Seikan Ferry Memorial Ship Hakkodamaru'' (Yanagawa, Aomori City) is currently unable to play music due to a problem with its motion sensor.

Until now, the monument's automatic detection sensor would react when a person approached, and enka singer Sayuri Ishikawa's hit song ``Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyu Sekkei'' would play.

The monument to this song was erected in 1995 (Heisei 7) as a connection to the 1977 (Showa 52) hit ``Tsugaru Kaikyo Winter Scene''. In 1996 (Heisei 8), since Cape Tatsuhi appears in the second verse, a song monument was also installed in a parking lot near Cape Tatsuhi.

According to the person in charge of the Aomori Port Management Office, the sensor response has been getting worse in recent years. ``In some cases, we responded to calls from the public and were able to quickly fix the problem, but currently the sensors are almost not responding, so we are investigating the cause of the failure.''
