The final screening of "Fashion Koshien 2023 (22nd National High School Fashion Design Championship)" was held on August 27th at the Hirosaki Civic Hall (Shimoshirogincho, Hirosaki City).

A fashion design contest for high school students from all over Japan. This year, 1,044 teams from 97 schools from 39 prefectures applied, and the works of 35 teams that passed the first screening were selected for the final screening.

The final judging session will be held in the fashion show format, and high school students will walk the runway with costumes made based on the design drawings, and will be judged by five judges. As with last year, the venue was held with an audience, and the judging session was also streamed live.

The winning team was Mr. Sasane Motegi, the designer of "Ishikawa Gakuen Yokohama Design School" (Nishi Ward, Yokohama City), and Mr. Yuna Akihama, who was in charge of the model. The two were last year's winning team, and achieved the first two consecutive wins in the history of the tournament. Kasagi said, "The level of the contestants was high, and I didn't expect to win the championship at all." When the microphone was pointed at the winner, the two commented, "I'm surprised," and invited laughter from the audience.

Five teams from four schools from Aomori Prefecture participated, but only one team, Shieri Akiya and Hinata Obuchi of Hirosaki Jitsugyo High School, won the prize. It was selected as a special prize for overseas fashion brands. The work "inside" by the two artists is a costume with a mask attached, and when turned inside out, it becomes a red and orange dress.

In the overall review of the award ceremony, judge Yumiko Hara said, "This time, there were works with a new trend, and wonderful works that expressed my feelings were gathered."
