From August 4th to 8th, "TEKKON Telegraph Pole Holy Battle in Aomori Prefecture, Aomori" will be held in Aomori City.

This game allows you to get points and prizes by taking pictures of telephone poles and posting them using the game app "TEKKON". The Whole Earth Foundation, a company that provides services such as infrastructure maintenance in Singapore, will co-sponsor with Tohoku Electric Power Network (Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture).

WHOLE EARTH FOUNDATION developed TEKKON, a “social contribution type location information game” in which residents protect social infrastructure. By posting photos of infrastructure taken, it is a mechanism to collect infrastructure status and data and use it for management and maintenance. In November 2022, it was held in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture under the title of "Manhole Crusade", and the goal of shooting about 20,000 manholes was achieved in two days.

Starting in April of this year, the "Telegraph Pole Holy War" will be held in six prefectures in the Tohoku region. It will be held in Sendai City in Miyagi Prefecture, Yamagata City and Tendo City in Yamagata Prefecture, and Morioka City and Ichinoseki City in Iwate Prefecture. Kyoko Fukuda, the person in charge of the event, said, "Our goal is to photograph a total of 20,600 utility poles in all 11 cities by December, and so far we have achieved all of our goals with events held in various areas of the Tohoku region. I want to achieve it,” and called for participation.

The object is 2000 electric poles mainly in Shinoda, Okidate, and Tomita in Aomori City. Pre-registration is required to participate, and install the game app "TEKKON" on your smartphone. Photographs of utility poles must be taken from four angles. Compete for points that can be earned according to the number of posts, and give prizes such as Amazon gift certificates and local items that can be used in the app to the top winners.

Mr. Fukuda said, "The main goal is to protect the infrastructure with the combined efforts of the residents, but there are many people who participate in the event while taking a walk, and those who post for prizes. There is no problem if you participate in the game as if it were a game, and it is positive. I hope that it will create a loop, foster love for one's hometown, and solve infrastructure issues."

The event is held from 7:00 to 17:00. Free to join.
