On July 1st, the coffee specialty shop "abCoffee" opened in the former storehouse of "Matsunoyu Koryukan" (Kuroishi City, Aomori Prefecture).

A shop specializing in home-roasted coffee, started by Mr. Shinpei Ebina, who is from Kuroishi and is particular about specialty coffee. The Yokomachi Jumonji Machisodatekai, to which Mr. Ebina belongs, took over the Jumonji Cafe, which had been run by the former brewery, and renewed it as a coffee specialty store with the concept of revitalizing the town with coffee.

Ebina drank coffee at “Coffee Colors” (Aomori City) in 2017 and was shocked. “At first, I was going to try it, but I was completely hooked on how delicious coffee could be,” says Ebina. After that, he started working as a rotor at "Colors" and held events as "AB Coffee".

When Mr. Ebina was thinking about opening a store in his hometown of Kuroishi, he received a proposal from the Yokocho Jumonji Machisodatekai to open a store. Mr. Ebina recalled, "I was approached around the end of April. The timing overlapped, and preparations began with momentum, leading to the opening of the store."

The store area is 13.5 tsubo, and the number of seats is 14. Use "Jumonji Cafe" out of the house. According to Mr. Ebina, "Matsunoyu Koryukan" is an inn (inn) that has been around since the Edo period, and the storehouse was built in the Edo period. It was renovated as an exchange facility in 2015 (Heisei 27).

The menu is hot coffee, iced coffee (more, eat-in = 550 yen, take-out = 540 yen), cafe latte, soy latte (more, eat-in = 605 yen, take-out = 594 yen). Hot coffee can choose beans. Light meals such as BLT sandwiches (660 yen) and capricious toast (440 yen) are also available. For coffee beans, in addition to the "AB Blend" (100 grams = 850 yen), more than 5 types of single origins are available.

Mr. Ebina said, "I want to spread specialty coffee that producers and consumers can make together. In the future, we aim to sell coffee beans by weight and increase the amount of roasting, and also open a store at events. I want to continue,” he said enthusiastically.

Business hours are from 10:00 to 18:00. Closed on Wednesdays.
