    On July 6th, Iron Planet Base of Tsugaru (Inakadate Village, Aomori Prefecture) is looking for people who can experience making stools using the seats of the Kiha 40 series train.

    The "Kiha 40 Series" is a diesel railcar that retired in March 2021 and was operated on the Gono Line and the Oga Line. The production experience is to make the legs of the seat sofa by welding work etc. There are two types of iron and trolley. Planning is JR East Akita Branch (Akita City, Akita Prefecture).

    "Iron Planet Base of Tsugaru" is a hands-on facility with the theme of "welding" and opened in April this year. This is the first facility in the Tohoku region and is operated by Hasegawa Tekko (Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture). You can experience manufacturing shelves and nameplates.

    The finished stool can be taken home. The width is 100 cm, the depth is 40 cm, the height is iron = 40 cm, trolley = 25 cm.

    The production experience is about 2 hours. The target is 10 years old and over, junior high school students and under must be accompanied by a guardian. Experience tickets will be sold at the sales site "JRE MALL Akita Branch Shop". Tickets for July 15th and 16th will be on sale from 12:00 on July 6th, and tickets for August 26th and 27th will be on sale from 12:00 on July 28th.

    In April of this year, JR East's Akita branch office collaborated with an Akita furniture maker to sell "Kiha 40 Chair Type 40," which reuses the seat frame and cushion of the "Kiha 40 series." A person in charge of the planning and general affairs department said with a smile, "This project was a collaboration with a local company in Aomori.

    The experience fee is "Type Iron" = 38,500 yen, "Type Trolley" = 30,000 yen.
