"Koshika Yakisoba Shop" (4 Kanazawa, Aomori City, TEL 017-776-2377 ) started selling shaved ice again this year on June 17th.

In 1976, the store moved from Asahi-cho to its current location, and was mainly engaged in selling ice. After moving to the current location, Kaya Kojika, the previous owner, started selling yakisoba, shaved ice in the summer, and oden in the winter.

Yoko, the current second-generation owner, was originally from Hokkaido and moved to Aomori when she got married. Yoko, who was helping out at the store, said, "My stepmother died when I was 37, and the store was temporarily closed. To be honest, I wasn't good at dealing with customers, so I didn't want to continue the store. I decided to take over the restaurant when I saw regular customers saying, "I want you to do it," and customers who came to visit."

According to Yoko, Ms. Kaya, who was born in the Meiji era, never taught her how to make yakisoba or oden. “He taught me the ingredients, how to buy them, and how to make them. I still use that recipe,” says Yoko.

The shaved ice menu is strawberry, melon, lemon, white honey, coffee (200 yen), chocolate (250 yen), azuki (300 yen). Add milk for 50 yen more. "We just raised the price by 50 yen two years ago," Yoko said.

The shaved ice machine was electric, which was rare at the time, and is still in use today. "The motor belt broke once and had it repaired, but other than that, it's still in use. The old-fashioned shaved ice is now completely gone, but I'd like to continue as long as I can."

Business hours are from 8:00 to 20:00. The shaved ice is sold until around October.
