Kamiboshi Takeuchi Seitai (Honmachi, Aomori City, TEL 017-734-1834 ) launched tube-type Tsugaru candy, its flagship product, on June 1st. cried.

A long-established candy shop that opened in Aomori in 1858. Tsugaru candy is a starch and malt syrup made without sugar. In Aomori, it is eaten with rice crackers and used as a seasoning for dishes such as simmered dishes.

There are cans and pots, but according to Ms. Keiko Takeuchi of the company, hygiene and inconvenience have long been an issue because they are eaten by scooping them up with a spoon. “Two years ago, the factory that was producing the largest cans closed, and we started to develop new types of cans,” says Takeuchi.

The tube type was easy to come up with, but there was trial and error in how to pack the candy and the label. Mr. Takeuchi recalls, "Everything was done by hand, so there was a lot of hard work at the site. At first, the label was based on a Japanese image, but since Tsugaru candy is a spring pig, I changed it to Nebuta."

The completed tube-type product has been well-received by Aspam, which has pre-sold it, and has received additional orders, and the number of customers visiting the head office has increased.

Mr. Takeuchi says that he is feeling the response, "Even now, many people buy cans and bottles as souvenirs, and many customers buy tubes as a trial, starting with the smaller type and then buying the next larger size. Since the Edo period. I would like to continue to spread the Tsugaru candy,” he said.

    The price is 450 grams = 864 yen, 230 grams = 432 yen.
