The passage connecting the east and west exits of Aomori Station on the second floor will begin service in 2021. It is 170 meters long and 6 meters wide. On the north side, there will be an art gallery in front of the station, which will use apple boxes to showcase citizens' cultural activities.

The "golden road" is formed by the light of the setting sun, and the angle of the passage and the light. Koji Takahashi of the Aomori City Urban Development Department Urban Policy Division, who manages the free passage, said, "I felt that the sunset on the west exit side was beautiful, but I wasn't particularly concerned. The glass walls were designed with the voices of the citizens of Aomori in mind.The 'Golden Road' may be a product of chance, but it is deeply moving to think that the road was created by the voices of the citizens," he said with a smile.
