A classic car and vintage motorcycle drag race event "Feels Good Exhaust" will be held on June 4th at Aomori Speed Park (Komagome Fukasawa, Aomori City).

In this event, classic cars and vintage motorcycles customized with large-displacement engines called hot rods run on a straight course of 1/10 mile (160 meters) and compete for the fastest time to the finish line.

Executive committee member Genta Sato said, "Drag racing is a culture that originated in the United States. About 10 years ago, drag racing started as an event in Chirihama, Ishikawa Prefecture, and spread all over Japan. I went to races held in Saitama and Ibaraki, and even in Aomori. It made me want to try it,” he says. The name of the event means "Let's feel a pleasant exhaust (exhaust, exhaust sound)".

In October last year, Mr. Sato held his first event by calling out to people who own classic cars. "I thought it would be a one-time event, but I decided to hold it for the second time this year with the support of my friends, and people saying, 'I want to do it again' and 'I want to race next time,'" he said.

A total of 50 cars, including 19 cars in the 4-wheel class, 12 cars in the 2-wheel hand clutch class, and 19 cars in the 2-wheel foot clutch class, will participate in the race. The contestants are not racers but "people who like cars", and there are also entries from Hokkaido, Akita and Fukushima. Last year we ran one car at a time, but this year we will have two cars running side by side and commentary so that you can enjoy the feeling of racing more.

Various stalls and booths are prepared on the day. In addition to kitchen cars, there is also a kids booth where you can make slacklines and mud dumplings, sell used clothes and flowers, take pictures of pets, Akiba Kart (license required) where you can run a course, and live performances by bands. Kota Kimake, the chairman of the executive committee, called for visitors, saying, "It's like going to see a stray race in the countryside of America with your family. We want you to come and have fun with your family and pets." "We have prepared a surprise program with prizes that only children can participate in. It's fun to come on the day," he said.

Mr. Sato said with a smile, "The event is made possible by the excitement of the customers. I hope that it will be a day where everyone at the venue can come together and enjoy themselves."

The event is held from 9:00 to 16:00. The entrance fee is 500 yen (18 years old and under are free).
