The cafe "Shirakami Tofu" opened on April 25th at the campsite "Aqua Green Village ANMON" in Nishimeya, Aomori (Nakatsugaru-gun, Aomori Prefecture).

This restaurant offers "Shirakami Tofu", which is an arrangement of Nishimeya's traditional dish "Meya Tofu". Haruko Kudo, the store manager, is from the Sunagose district of Nishimeya Village. Residents moved to the Sunagose area for the construction of a dam, and 'Meya Tofu', which had been produced in the area, was once discontinued.

“I would like to propose a new form of traditional tofu in Sunagose,” says Mr. Kudo. I make tofu every morning. "It's soft when it's freshly made. Our signature dish is 'Shirakami Tofu Chameshi,' which you eat with tofu on top of rice," he says.

The store area is about 60 tsubo. The number of seats is 32. The opening date coincided with the opening of the Anmon area, a sightseeing spot in the Shirakami Mountains that is closed in winter.

The menu includes "Shirakami tofu lunch" (1,350 yen), which is "Shirakami tofu tea rice" with soup, okara chiffon cake, okara chocolate cake, okara cheesecake (all for ¥450). Drinks such as coffee (350 yen) and Shirakami herbal tea (500 yen) are also available. Sweets and drinks are also available for takeout.

Mr. Kudo began preparations last summer, and after consulting with Ms. Kimiko Sakuraba of "Sakurarin Saryo" (Homozawa, Hirosaki City), she finally managed to open. Mr. Kudo said with a smile, "Tourists from all over the country visit the Shirakami Mountains, a World Natural Heritage site. Food is a great memory for tourists. I want to create a restaurant where people will remember how delicious the menu was, using local food." show.

Business hours are from 10:30 to 16:30. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
