The rows of Yoshino cherry trees along Sakuragawa Chuo Dori, one of Aomori's famous cherry blossom viewing spots, are now in full bloom.

Because it is located in a residential area, it is not a tourist spot, but many local residents visit each year, and the number of people and traffic on the sidewalk increases.

A woman in her 60s who took a picture with her smartphone said, "This year, the time from when it bloomed to when it was in full bloom was short. I heard that it was in full bloom, so today I rushed to take a picture of the cherry blossoms. I asked a friend who lives outside the prefecture. I want you to see it too," he said. A woman in her 30s who lives in the neighborhood said with a smile, "I see it every year, but I never get tired of it.

The Sakuragawa Night Cherry Blossom Festival will be held on April 22nd for the first time in four years. The festival, which is held on part of Sakuragawa Chuo-dori Street as a pedestrian zone, will be centered on local residents, and will have restaurants and a corner for making stick bread.

Kohei Sasaki, chairman of the Sakuragawa Shoten Association and owner of Sasaki Shoten (4 Sakuragawa, Aomori City), said, "I've been putting up with the corona crisis for a long time, but I'm happy that it's finally going to be held. It looks like it will be held during the cherry blossom season this year. However, I would like you to come and visit," he called out.

The event is held from 16:00 to 20:00.
