Noheji Iki Iki Joyato Market (Noheji, Noheji-cho, Kamikita-gun) adjacent to Noheji Park in Aomori December 13 , reopened.

This facility used to sell mainly seafood caught in Mutsu Bay. In the renewal, an eat-in space will be set up and a lunch menu will be provided. It has been closed since 2020 due to the corona pandemic, but the Noheji company "Kitamaebune", which was founded in August this year, has started management and operation anew with the desire to make it a base for disseminating Aomori's food. .

The main products handled are seafood such as scallops and fresh fish caught in Noheji, processed marine products, local vegetables, local products, and apples. Since Noheji was a port of call for Kitamae-bune ships, we also offer products from ports around Japan, such as brewed vinegar from Onomichi, Hiroshima, and pickled firefly squid from Minami-Echizen, Fukui.

Yudai Sasaki, the president of the company, says that he is focusing on purchasing by making use of personal connections from his previous experience in exporting Aomori products. Mr. Sasaki explains, "I have an image of a small roadside station. You can buy not only local items and everyday items, but also rare items that you can't buy unless you go out of the way. They have an interesting lineup."

The lunch menu includes the "Live Scallop Don" (1,280 yen), which uses 6 scallops, a specialty of Noheji, and the "Kitamae Don" (1,480 yen), which is topped with fresh seafood caught in the sea near Aomori. Both are served with miso soup. In addition, the "Arajiru Set Meal" (700 yen), and the "Egg Sandwich" (500 yen), which is a sandwich of bread from Mutsuno Bakery "Yoshida Bakery" with "Atsuyaki Tamago" from Tokyo's tamagoyaki restaurant "Tamaei", are also available for 100 yen. For an additional yen, you can choose between Noheji's specialty Kawaraketsumei tea or coffee from the home-roasted coffee shop BIWANO 52 Coffee Factory (Biwano, Noheji).

The menu changes depending on the time of use, such as a morning set (500 yen) for commuters and early morning fishermen, and a cafe time menu where you can enjoy Noheji's famous confectionery that changes daily. Ms. Miho Yokoyama, who is in charge of public relations at the company, said with a smile, "We want you to feel free to stop by anytime. We want to make this a place that is loved by everyone in Noheji and an attractive place that tourists can visit."

Mr. Sasaki said, "The shop is in front of the restored Kitamae-bune, and the company name is 'Kitamae-bune.' I want to use this place as a base to spread the charm of Aomori throughout Japan," he said enthusiastically.
