“Wanpuro” (Honmachi, Aomori City), a one-on-one dog training class, opened on October 26th.

The owner, Ms. Asami Osanai, who holds the world standard dog trainer qualification "CPDT-KA" (Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed), teaches how to discipline dog behavior problems such as "biting" and "barking". “I wanted the name of the store to be simple and easy to remember in Japanese,” says Mr. Osanai. It is said that the name "Wanpuro" comes from the two meanings of "dog pro" and "wanko pro wrestling", which is an abbreviation of "wanko wrestling" where dogs play and play.

Osanai started studying at a dog school in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, aiming to become a dog trainer after becoming a working adult. “I became interested in working with dogs when I was in college. The dog I had since elementary school died,” says Mr. Osanai.

Due to the corona sickness, I took classes online from Aomori, but in October 2020 I went to Tokyo with my dog Luna to learn practical skills. While working at a puppy training class, he went to school and deepened his knowledge. After completing the school, Mr. Osanai meets the eligibility requirements such as dog training experience of more than 300 hours, and challenges the "CPDT-KA" obtained by passing the three-hour written exam. “I was relieved when I passed,” he recalls.

The menu consists of "initial counseling" (3,000 yen), "4 lessons for puppies" (26,400 yen), and "4 lessons for adult dogs" (28,600 yen). Lessons from the 4th lesson onwards can be added in units of 1 lesson. The first counseling session lasts 60 minutes, and Mr. Osanai proposes lesson contents after listening to the daily situation. Explain the background of the dog's behavior to the owner, and proceed with the training after obtaining the owner's consent. Dogs can be of any age, but prices are different for puppies under 1 year old and adult dogs.

Regarding opening his own restaurant in Aomori, he said, ``I was worried about whether I would be able to attract customers, but after consulting with my parents and teachers, I decided to open my own restaurant.'' In addition to increasing the number of items handled in the product sales corner, Mr. Osanai wants to put effort into updating his blog and SNS. "I want to provide useful information to dog owners. Eventually, I want to run a facility where puppies can have various experiences," he said.

Business hours are from 10:00 to 18:00. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
