Aomori's beauty salon "Earth-ya" (Tsutsui, Aomori-shi, TEL 017-722-7897 ) holds "Monthly Biryani Day" where they serve biryani once a month.

Opened in 2012, this shop offers regular menus such as haircuts and coloring, as well as "keiraku kassa" treatments that adjust the flow of energy using oriental medicine.

“Monthly Biryani Day” is a free Indian dish “Biryani (rice cooked with spices)” handmade by the owner, Takahiro Tamura, one day a month. It is prepared in the kitchen in the store from the morning, and the store is open as usual.

Mr. Tamura, who started making biryani last fall, says that he has been making curry from spices without using roux for 20 years. “A year ago, I found a biryani book in the library and tried to make it with the spices I had on hand,” says Tamura. "I found it interesting that Japanese people don't understand things like the complexity of the process and 'throwing away the broth after boiling the rice.'

Mr. Tamura, who says that each time he makes biryani, has become more satisfied with the results.

At first, there were many customers who were curious about what biryani is, but now there are more and more regular customers waiting for the monthly event and people who come just for biryani.

“Even though I should have cut my hair, there are times when I cut my business hours and use a lot of spices that are not cheap early in the morning and wonder what I am doing. It is not a business, so I understand. It's also interesting to be able to spend up to the cost. It's fun to make and it makes people happy, so I can't stop."

At the "Monthly Biryani Day" held on October 25th, after 13:30, customers from inside and outside the city gathered in search of biryani. A man in his 30s, who came here for the first time, said, "My mother used to share it with a regular customer, and it was delicious with a hint of spiciness." A man in his 30s who came from Tsuruta said with a smile, "I didn't like oysters last time, so I gave up. Today, I love clams and octopus. I came here with a haircut." There were also customers who left snacks and apples as a way of saying "thank you" and "bartering". The biryani prepared for 10 people was gone in about 30 minutes, and the day's behavior was over.

Mr. Tamura said, "Today's result is 100 points. I'm glad that everyone was pleased. I want to spread the world of biryani, which is still unknown. I want to continue in the future to increase the number of 'Biryani Mate' in Aomori. My main business. Thank you very much," he said with a smile.

The next meeting will be held on November 6th. Details of the event will be posted on Instagram.
