    Aomori's bagel and cafe "Pommiel" (Namioka Daishaka, Aomori City, TEL 0172-55-0591 ) celebrated its 10th anniversary in October.

    This store mainly sells bagels, such as Koppepan sandwiches and processed apple products. The name of the store is a French coined word for "apples and honey". In October 2012, Ms. Akiko Shimizu opened a restaurant in the center of Namioka. The store closed temporarily in March 2015, but moved to its current location when she got married to Teruyuki, and reopened in December 2016.

    Akiko was born into an apple farm in Namioka and still helps out at the apple farm. After graduating from high school, he moved to Tokyo and worked at French restaurants and bakeries before making a U-turn. Teruyuki was originally from Kawagoe, Saitama, and settled in Aomori after being appointed as a member of the Regional Revitalization Cooperation Volunteer. Teruyuki said, "I visited Aomori for the first time in 2007 to meet a friend who was transferred to work. I decided to live in Aomori because I was drawn to the warmth and kindness of the people of Aomori."

    Looking back on the past 10 years, Akiko says with a smile, "Every day is tough, but today is always the most fun." From March 2020, the store was renewed and Koppepan sandwiches were added to the menu, but sales were sluggish due to the effects of the new coronavirus. "I can't continue alone. I was able to continue until now because my husband was there."

    In August 2021, Teruyuki's father, Takayuki, moved next door to the store and opened a café called "Self-roasted Coffee So Cafe" in a renovated 40-year-old private house. bottom. “My father opened a café at the time when the eat-in space was removed due to the renewal of the store, so there was a synergistic effect. We are developing services such as this,” says Teruyuki.

    The seasonal menu "Jomon Chestnut Mont Blanc" using chestnuts from Aomori Prefecture, which was offered last year, will be available again on October 10th. Akiko said, "Last year's menu was very popular. Although the paste takes time, I made it again this year because I wanted people to eat something delicious. I would like to continue developing new menus."

    In addition to holding bonfire parties on an irregular basis, Teruyuki says that he wants to focus on disseminating the stick bread culture that is rooted in Aomori because he calls himself a "stick bread evangelist." . “A bonfire party is a place where everyone gathers together and just relax while watching the bonfire. Stick bread is not for locals but for people outside of the prefecture. I want to plan an event where everyone can get together and have fun,” said Teruyuki.
