"AOMORI COFFEE FESTIVAL 2022" will be held for the first time in three years on October 22nd and 23rd at Wa Rasse West Square in front of Aomori Station and Aomori Station Beach (Yakata/Yanagawa, Aomori City).

The event started in 2016 with the concept of “enlivening Aomori with coffee” and “making Aomori the number one coffee consumer in Japan”. Coffee shops, roasters, and sweets shops that offer food that goes well with coffee gather from inside and outside the prefecture. This year, 58 stores will open, which is the largest number ever.

Satoshi Aoki, the chairman of the executive committee and owner of the handicraft store "Nandemoya" (Shinmachi), said, "It started with a plan to liven up the Showa-dori shopping street where our shop is. The Aomori Coffee Festival was started with the idea of holding an event like this.I wanted to liven up the town not only on Showa-dori, but also around the station." The number of visitors was 7,000 when it was first held, 10,000 in 2018, and 16,000 in 2019, increasing year by year. For the past two years, due to the corona crisis, we did not hold a real event, but instead sold coffee beans and goods at pop-up shops in station buildings.

Koichi Nakamura, deputy executive committee chairman of "Coffeeman good" (Furukawa), said, "Aomori Coffee Festival has become nationally recognized both for its size and name recognition. I only write the name of the restaurant on purpose. There may be a restaurant in your neighborhood that you choose because it looks delicious and has a nice atmosphere.

At the event, plans and original goods will be prepared. "Mini mug cups and tasting coffee tickets (4 tickets)" (1,500 yen) allow you to sample coffee from each store in an original cup. Unused tickets can be used as a coupon for 250 yen only at participating stores as a fun of "after festival".

For the first time, we will prepare "reuse cups" as an initiative to reduce disposable cup waste. A 1,000 yen deposit (deposit) is exchanged for a cup, and if you wish, you can take it home with you, but if you return it, the deposit will be returned. Aomori has many marche events, and he hopes that more people will use it in other areas as well.

Aoki commented, "It's the first time in three years that the event will be held in the format of a market. Many people are looking forward to it. According to the 2020 Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Statistics Bureau household budget survey, Aomori's coffee consumption ranks eighth in Japan. I would like many people to come and visit," he said.

The event is held from 10:00 to 16:00. Rain or shine. free entrance.
