On September 24th and 25th, the craft event "The 16th Toki no Ichi" will be held at Aomori's "Zenbutsuzan Seiryuji" (Kuwabara, Aomori City).

“I want to create an event using Seiryu-ji as a venue,” planned by Shima Yamaguchi, who runs the miscellaneous goods store “Minotsukisha” in Aomori City. It is held in spring and autumn every year. The temple has the Showa Daibutsu, the tallest bronze seated statue of Dainichi Nyorai in Japan, and a five-storied pagoda made of Aomori Hiba.

The concept of the event, which takes advantage of the characteristics of a place called a “temple,” is “hospitality in Japanese clothing.” Stalls and staff welcome customers in kimonos and haori. Mr. Yamaguchi says, "It has become established over time and is also known as an 'event to enjoy kimono'." As the seasons change, the number of visitors dressed in kimono for the purpose of taking pictures and uploading photos to SNS has increased. This time, we will prepare a kimono-patterned tissue case as a novelty for visitors who come dressed in kimono.

A total of 74 booths will be lined up on both days, including craft shops selling accessories, cloth accessories, and pottery, as well as coffee, bread, sweets, and meat dishes. One of the highlights of the event is the flea market, which sells secondhand items and kimonos. Mr. Yamaguchi will also prepare kimonos, Japanese accessories, and miscellaneous goods for the uniform price of 500 yen.

Mr. Yamaguchi said, "This time, I'm once again asking the stallholders to try their best in kimono. I would be happy if the venue became more gorgeous. Customers can also casually try on kimono and take a lot of pictures. I want it. I hope you can enjoy the extraordinary atmosphere," he said with a smile.

The event is held from 10:00 to 16:00. free entrance.
