Two months have passed since the craft sandwich shop "Hand Sandwiches" (Aomori City Second Wholesaler Town, TEL 070-8991-7585 ) opened in Aomori.

The shop makes all the bread, fillings and sauces by hand. Run by Kenji and Reiko Arauchi, who made a U-turn from Tokyo in 2020. The two trained at a craft sandwich shop in Izu Kogen, Shizuoka. "I want to open a sandwich shop with a sense of volume, which is increasing in the Tokyo metropolitan area, in Aomori." The logo of hands together is an image of "handmade" and "itadakimasu".

“We valued the marriage that occurs when you put a sandwich consisting of bread, filling, and sauce together in your mouth,” says Kenji. After about three months of trial and error, he decided on the yeast for the homemade aged bread and the ingredients used for the filling. It is said that the position of the ingredients also changes the taste, and he put his heart and soul into "creating the best combination."

There are currently 5 types of sandwiches on the menu. The most popular item is the "Homemade Bacon Sandwich" (1,100 yen), which is sandwiched between homemade bacon, marmalade, and vegetables using naturally aged pork from Hasegawa Nature Ranch (Ajigasawa Town). “I want you to enjoy the combination of sourness and sweetness of bacon and marmalade,” says Reiko. The coffee on the drink menu (hot = 450 yen, iced = 500 yen) uses coffee beans blended by "Little Nap COFFEE STAND" in Yoyogi, Tokyo. "Homemade Ginger Ale" (550 yen, hot = 500 yen), which contains new ginger, lemon, cinnamon, cardamom, hawk's claws, cloves, etc. is homemade by Reiko. All menu items are also available for takeout.

When Kenji was in Tokyo, he presided over the street frisbee team and has been involved in planning art projects and events. "In the future, I would like to propose new ways to enjoy the park that will make you want to go out to the park with a sandwich," he said.

Business hours are from 10:00 to 14:30 (last order, ends when sold out). Closed Sundays and Mondays.
