The Hirosaki City Historical Building Utilization Workshop was held on December 17th at the former Hirosaki Kaikosha (Miyukicho, Hirosaki City).

This workshop, sponsored by Hirosaki City, explores the feasibility of a "Distributed Hotel Concept Utilizing Historical Buildings" in cooperation with the Tohoku Transportation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and NOTE (Hyogo Prefecture). About 20 people gathered, including people involved in local culture, tourism, and community development, interested businesses, and local residents.

The moderator is Yuki Fujino of NOTE. As an advanced case study, he introduced the case of a "distributed hotel business utilizing historical buildings" in Tanba Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. "Hirosaki is still at the research stage. Through this workshop, I would like to use it as a reference to explore the direction of the decentralized hotel business concept," says Fujino.

The participants were divided into five groups and carried out two works: "Identification of Hirosaki's local resources" and "Description of the future image of the decentralized hotel business in Hirosaki City." We actively exchanged opinions on Hirosaki's attractions, issues, and what functions should be provided in which places. In the group presentation, opinions such as ``create a sightseeing course related to the army (army cafe)'', ``make a guest room in a historic building'', and ``make a guest room in a quiet suburb for tourists from the city'' were announced.

Mr. Fujino says, "This project is not just for the government, financial institutions, and local business operators, but also for the entire region, including people who live in Hirosaki and people who are involved. I want to aim for ," he said.

Hirosaki City will reflect this opinion in its business plan and use it as a reference for policy formation after 2023.
