Kitakanegasawa ginkgo, a nationally designated natural monument in Fukaura, Aomori, known for having the largest ginkgo tree in Japan, is now in its best season for yellow leaves.

Estimated to be 1,000 years old, this ginkgo tree is 31 meters tall and has a trunk circumference of 22 meters. From November 16th, the night light-up "Big Yellow" will also be held.

About 80% color now. This ginkgo tree is less affected by the beach breeze and turns color later than other deciduous broad-leaved trees. McGraw Suzuki, of the Fukaura Town Hall Tourism Division, said, "This year's color progress is slow. The best time to see the flowers will probably continue until December."

On the weekend of the 19th and 20th, when the light-up began, many visitors visited. “The road leading to the ginkgo tree was bustling with people that you don’t see even on New Year’s Day,” says Suzuki. "I was touched by the cheers when I turned it on. I'm really happy that various photos have been posted on the Internet with '#Big Yellow'. I would like you to post Big Yellow seen from each perspective on SNS."

Light up time is from 16:30 to 20:20. Until November 30th.
