On April 18, the vintage store “BUTTON UP clothing” (TEL 0172-37-6699), which sells used clothing from the United States and Europe, opened in Omachi, Hirosaki City.

The manager, Yusuke Tsunoda, is from Goshogawara City, Aomori Prefecture. After graduating from Hirosaki University, I got a job in wholesale business, but in September last year I retired from a company that worked for about 10 years and decided to open the same store.

“Hirosaki has an old history and culture, but I felt that few people liked it because of the history and culture of fashion. If we could create an opportunity to experience old things through second-hand clothes,” says Kakuta.

At the store, around 500 pieces of second-hand clothes and accessories that Mr. Kakuda bought directly from flea markets and other destinations in the United States are lined up, taking advantage of the experience of working in the distribution industry. Explaining the charm of used clothes, "My favorite 1920s to 1970s were times when we were competing for quality rather than quantity. Even from a distance, the aura of clothes is completely different." "For example, it is possible to judge when it was made from the details of the zipper and how to make it."

The store area is 8 tsubo. The store's logo design and the interior that was completed in a month were "made up with local artists of the same age who are artists and artists. We did the brickwork on the walls and the ceiling on our own, but the layman did it. It makes me feel better, "says Kakuda.

The motorcycle "Triumph 6T-Thunderbird" displayed in the store is used by Mr. Tsunoda for commuting, and is said to be the result of the movie "Roughman" that he saw many times to study English. "I bought the bike for the first time. I was too particular about it, so I couldn't choose any other bike," he says with a smile.

Mr. Tsunoda calls the store, "I want to make it a fun and lively place. Not only those who are interested in second-hand clothes, but also high school students who do not know where to buy clothes should come".

Business hours are from 13:00 to 20:00. Closed on Tuesdays.
